Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Handwara and Kulgam and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Qalamabad at a checkpoint established at Qalamabad Market, arrested a drug peddler identified as Tahir Ahmad Dar S/o Gh Mohammad R/o Khanpora Magam Handwara and during searches recovered 60 grams of Charas from the possession of the accused who has been shifted to police station where he remain in custody.
Stating that similarly a police party of Police Station Kulgam during patrolling in village Okay, intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot after noticing the police party but was apprehended tactfully, adding therein that the said accused has been identified as Masroor Ahmad Zargar S/o Mohd Asadullah Zargar R/o Okay, Kulgam. Police in it’s statement further said that during searches 4 grams of Brown Sugar was recovered from the possession of the above named accused who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, adding therein that
police has registered cases under relevant section of law in respective police stations and initiated an investigation into the case.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated that strict actions will be taken against the criminals as per law.
