Srinagar :Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party led by In-charge Police Post Kungamdara under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohd Nawaz at a checkpoint established at Khore Sherabad Pattan intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully, adding therein that during searches 50 grams of charas like substance was recovered from the possession of the said accused identified as Mohd Ashraf Reshi S/o Mohd Jaffar Reshi R/o Hanjiwera Pattan who was later shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that police has accordingly registered a case under relevant sections of law at Police Station Pattan and initiated an investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly under law.
