Awnatipora: Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (DJMC) of the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), on Thursday, held an interactive session with The Yomiuri Shimbun’s special Correspondent, Tawqeer Hussain, an alumnus of the department who was recently nominated as the Joint Secretary to Foreign Correspondents Club South Asia.
According to a statement issued from Public Relations Office Islamic University of Science and Technology Awantipora, Tawqeer Hussain, a 2011 pass-out of the department has over a decade of experience with various national and international organizations. While interacting with the students, Tawqeer, shared his experiences and talked about the importance of adhering to professional ethics, developing skills and networking abilities . Reminiscing about his student days at the university, he told the students that they should make the best of the opportunities available and work hard. Tawqeer discussed various opportunities present in the field of journalism and emphasized on the students to develop a penchant early in their careers for beat reporting like environmental reporting, rural reporting and business reporting, which have promising prospects.
The programme coordinated by Dr Mujeeb Liyaqat and conducted by Dr Monisa Qadri, Sr Assistant Professor was by attended by faculty, students and scholars. On this occasion, Mr Tawqeer was felicitated for his accomplishments by Dean Academic Affairs Prof. Manzoor A. Malik.
