8 drug peddlers arrested, contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested 8 drug peddlers in Baramulla, Kulgam & Awantipora and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party led by SHO Police Station Chandoosa under the supervision of SDPO Kreeri Khalid Ashraf arrested a drug peddler identified as Amir Hussain Dar S/o Mohd Sultan Dar R/o Wagoora at a checkpoint established at Kachwa Muqam Chandoosa, adding therein that during searches 50 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from his possession.
In another similar action Police said that a police party led by SHO Police Station Tangmarg under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg Imtiyaz Ahmad, arrested a drug peddler identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Lone S/o Ab Rashid Lone R/o Ferozpora Tangmarg during naka checking at Ferozpora Tangmarg, adding therein that during searches 30 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from his possession.
Stating that in yet another similar action a police party led by Incharge Police Post Wagoora under the supervision of SDPO Kreeri Khalid Ashraf during naka checking at Durhama Wagoora intercepted a suspicious person carrying nylon bag who tried to flee but was apprehended tactfully, Police in it’s statement further said that during searches 4Kgs of contraband Poppy Straw and one gram of Brown Sugar like substance was recovered from his possession, adding therein that the accused has been identified as Abdul Hameed Najar S/o Mohd Akbar Najar R/o Goshbugh.
Police in it’s statement furthermore said that a police party led by SHO Police Station Kunzer under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg Imtiaz Ahmed during patrolling at Hardu Aboora Bridge arrested a drug peddler identified as Manzoor Ahmad Hajam S/o Mohd Sultan Hajam R/o Tarhama Kunzer who upon seeing the Patrolling party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully, adding therein that during searches 25grams of Charas like substance was recovered from his possession. Stating that in a another action, a police party led by SHO Police Station Baramulla under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla Sajjad Bukhari arrested 2 drug peddlers identified as Reyaz Ahmad Khan & Tariq Ahmad Khan both sons of Gh Nabi Khan, both residents of Janbazpora Baramulla and 85 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from their possession, Police in it’s statement furthermore said that in Kulgam also, a special team of police led by SHO PS Kulgam under the supervision of SSP Kulgam at a checkpoint established near Laroo crossing intercepted a suspicious person carrying a bag and during checking recovered 11 Bottles of Codeine phosphate (Cofmaster-C each 100ml) like contraband substance from the said bag. Police in it’s statement also said that the accused identified as Alyas Ahmad Ganie S/o Gull Mohammad Ganie R/o Laroo, Kulgam was arrested and shifted to PS where he remains in custody.
Furthermore Police in it’s statement said that in Awantipora, a police party headed by Incharge Police Post Reshipora SI Ishfaq Ahmad under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora Mumtaz Ali Bhatti arrested a drug peddler at Panzgam Crossing and during searches recovered 510 grams of charas like substance from his possession following which he was identified as Sheeraz Ahmad Dar S/o Ab Rashid Dar R/o Ladermud.
Stating that all the accused persons have been shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody, Police in it’s statement further said that it has accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and investigation has been initiated, Police in it’s statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated that it will act tough against the criminals as per law.
