Srinagar : Police on Sunday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers in Baramulla & Kulgam and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Baramulla, a police party of Police Post Wussan under the supervision of SDPO Mohammad Nawaz during naka checking near Govt Higher Secondary School Goshbugh Pattan intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee but was apprehended tactfully, adding therein that during searches eight 98) grams of Brown Sugar like substance was recovered from the possession of the said accused identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Yatoo S/o Mohammad Ibrahim Yatoo R/o Sultanpora Pattan.
Stating that in a similar action a police party led by SHO PS Chandoosa arrested a drug Peddler identified as Amir Hussain Dar S/o Mohd Sultan Dar R/o Wagoora during naka checking at Kachwa Muqam Chandoosa and recovered 50 grams of Charas like substance from his possession, Police in it’s statement further said that officers led by SHO PS Tangmarg arrested a drug peddler identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Lone S/o Ab Rashid Lone R/o Ferozpora Tangmarg during naka checking at Ferozpora Tangmarg alongwith 30 grams of Charas like substance.
In yet another similar action Police said a police party of Police Post Mirbazar at a checkpoint established checking near Palpora Crossing on NHW-44 intercepted a suspicious person and during checking, 2.8Kgs of Cannabis powder like substance concealed in a bag was recovered from the possession of the said accused identified John Mohammad Sheikh S/o Mohammad Yousuf Sheikh R/o Raithan Budgam A/P Zadoora, Mirbazar.
Police in it’s statement furthermore said that all the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody, adding therein that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and initiated an investigation into the cases.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police appealed people cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and also reassured them to act tough against the criminals as per law.
