Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested two persons and also seized two vehicles in Kulgam for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting promptly upon a specific input about extraction and transportation of minerals at Nallah Munnad, a special team led by SHO Police Station Behibagh raided the specific location and arrested two persons and seized a JCB machine and a tractor for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, adding therin that the accused arrested were identified as Irfan Ahmad Khawja S/o Ali Mohammad Khawja R/o Poonch and Yawer Ahmad S/o Nazir Ahmad R/o Gopalpora.
Stating that it has accordingly registered a case vide FIR No. 32/2023 under relevant sections at Police Station Behibagh and investigation has been initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
