Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested six drug peddlers in Baramulla, Kulgam & Awantipora and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg Imtiyaz Ahmad assisted by Incharge Police Post Babareshi during routine patrolling at Shranz Crossing Tangmarg arrested a drug peddler namely Mohd Ashraf Malla S/o Gh Qadir R/o Dodbugh, adding therein that during searches 50 grams of contraband charas and cash amount of ₹27300/- (believed to be proceeds of narcotic crime) was recovered from the possession of the said accused who was arrested shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that in a similar acrion a Police party led by Incharge Police Post Palhallan under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohd Nawaz at a checkpoint established at Hamrey Pattan arrested a drug peddler namely Mohd Yaqoob Dar S/o Ghulam Rasool Dar R/o Renji Pattan, Police in it’s statement further said that during searches 96 Tablets of SpasmoProxyvon Plus & 10 Syrups of Codeine Phosphate was recovered from the possession of the said accused who was subsequently arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in it’s statement furthermore said that a police party under the supervision of SDPO Uri Shokat Ali assisted by DySP Prob. Kubra Nazir, SHO Police Station Boniyar at a checkpoint established near Ijara Crossing Bridge Boniyar intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully, adding therein that during searches 90grams of Charas, 800grams of dry cannabis leaves and cash amount of ₹41355/- (believed to be proceeds of narcotic crime) were recovered from the possession of the said accused identified as Mohd Amin Sheikh S/o Ghulam Mohd Sheikh R/o Ijara Boniyar who was accordingly arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in it’s statement also said that a police party led by Incharge Police Post Delina under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla Sajjad Bukhari at a checkpoint established at Rawathpora Delina intercepted a vehicle (Swift) bearing registration number HP40D-3856 and during searches recovered 10grams of Brown Sugar from the possession of the said accused identified as Zahid Hussain Wani S/o Ghulam Hassan Wani R/o Hardushiva Sopore who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Stating that in Kulgam also a special police team led by Incharge Police Post Mirbazar under the supervision of SSP Kulgam at a checkpoint established near Zadoora Crossing on NHW-44 intercepted a suspicious person carrying a bag, police in it’s statement also said that during searches 6 sticks of charas like substance weighing around 100 grams was recovered from the said bag from the possession of the said accused identified as Safeer Ahmad Dar S/o Khalil Mohammad Dar R/o Nowpora who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
In yet another similar action police said that in Awantipora a Police Party of Police Station Pampore headed by SHO PS Pampore under the supervision of SDPO Pampore Imtiyaz Ahmad arrested one drug peddler at Tulbagh Pampore and during searches recovered 1Kg 100 grams of cannabis powder (charas Powder) from the possession of the said accused identified as Basir Manzoor Akhoon S/o Manzoor Ahmad Akhoon R/o Tulbagh Pampore who was shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that it has accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law at respective police station and further investigation has been initiated,
Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society
