Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Handwara and Baramulla and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Handwara, a police party of Police Station Vilgam during naka checking at Dahama crossing intercepted a suspicious person who attempted to flee but was apprehended tactfully, adding therein that during searches around 30 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from his possession after which the accused has been identified as Mohd Afzal Shah S/o Abdul Gafar R/o Gund Momin.
Stating that in another similar action a police party of Police Station Kralgund during patrolling at Reshipora Wuder apprehended one person who had attempted to avoid the police party in a suspicious manner, Police in it’s statement further said that during searches around 40 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from his possession following which the accused was identified as Waseem Ahmad Mir S/o Gh Hassan Mir R/o Zathan Rafiabad.
Police in it’s statement furthermore said that a police party led by SHO PS Chandoosa under the supervision of SDPO Kreeri at a checkpoint established at Bandi Payeen Baramulla intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully, adding therein that during searches 56 Spasmo-Proxyvon Plus tablets were recovered from his possession.
Stating that all the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations and the cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations besides which further investigation has been initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement urged people to share information of drug peddling with the concerned police unit and also cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
