Srinagar : Police in Baramulla on Wednesday said that it has seized illicit timber in village Mothal in Hathlanga area of Uri and also arrested three accused persons involved in the commission of crime.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Uri under the supervision of SDPO Uri Showkat Ali arrested three timber smugglers identified as Mohd Afzal Bhat S/o Ab Majeed Bhat, Shabir Ahmad Bhat s/o Ab Majeed & Naseer Ahmad Bhat, all residents of Mothal Hanthlanga Uri and also recovered 60 CFTs of illicit timber from their possession, adding therein that the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that it has accordingly registered a case under relevant sections of law at PS Uri and investigation has been initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that the drive against timber smugglers shall continue and reassured the people that every effort will be made to keep society free of crime. Police in it’s statement also resolved to act as per law against those who indulge in criminal & anti-social activities.
