DC Ang convenes preparatory meeting for Amarnath Yatra

Anantnag : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag Dr Basharat Qayoom on Wednesday conveyed a preparatory meeting for the conduct of this year’s annual amarnath yatra in his Office chamber, here.
CEO Pahalgam briefed the chair about the action plan of PDA which includes construction of pony stations, maintenance of garbage etc, restoration of Helipads, augmentation of parking space, identification of land for parking, route plans for ponywalas, etc.
The EO MC Pahalgam assured the chair for proper sanitation of his jurisdiction and said that the department is going to hire the additional 100 sweepers during Yara period and will install more latrine points at various places.
SE R&B said that 4.5 km will be macadamised before commencement of SANJY-2023. Installation of crash barriers at various vulnerable spots like Movera, Betab Valley etc. is in plan, said the SE, besides the patching of road from Alstop to Chandanwari.
More than 200 labourers are on job to clear the route besides the machinery, said the BRO representative besides that Snow clearance enroute to holy cave is in progress and will be cleared before the deadline.
DC while speaking on the occasion said that SANJY being a national event and Administration is committed to provide every possible support and facilities to the pilgri
He directed the officers to expedite the pace of works and complete them before commencement of the yatra. He also directed the BRO officers to ensure the clearance of route and other works up to 20th of May and directed them for weekly updates. Flood Control department was directed for protection works and Nallah widening at vulnerable spots.
Meeting was attended by ADC (A), CEO PDA, SDM Pahalgam, SE R&B, Xen R&B, and representatives of BRO, AD Tourism Pahalgam, EO MC Pahalgam, A.E.E Flood and other concerned officers.
