Says “Absconding notorious drug peddler arrested in Kulgam”

Srinagar : Police on Wednesday arrested 3 drug peddlers in Baramulla & Kulgam and recovered psychotropic substance from their possession. Besides, an absconding notorious drug peddler who was evading his arrest from last 03 years has been arrested in Kulgam.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of PS Baramulla during patrolling at Janbazpora Baramulla arrested 2 drug peddlers identified as Mohd Arif Magray S/o Mohd Ayoub Magray R/o Chakloo & Sameer Ahmad Dar S/o Abdul Hamid R/o Janbazpora, adding therein that during searches 143 banned capsules (SPS PHEN Plus) were recovered from their possession following which they were shifted to police station where they remain in custody and a case under relevant sections of law was registeredat PS Baramulla and investigation has been initiated.
Stating that in another similar action in Kulgam district, a police party of PS Devsar at a checkpoint established at Chambgund Crossing, intercepted a suspicious person carrying a polythene bag who on noticing police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully, Police in it’s statement further said that the accused was identified as Rayees Ahmad Mir S/o Mohammad Rajab Mir R/o Malwan and during searches 5 Kgs of Grinded Cannabis and 110 grams of Charas was recovered from his possession following which he was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in it’s statement also said that it has accordingly registered a case vide FIR No. 36/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Devsar and investigation has been initiated, adding therein that an absconder who was evading his arrest for being involved in case FIR No. 292/2020 of Police Station Qazigund was also arrested. Stating that acting promptly following inputs about the presence of the said absconder a special police party from Police Station Qazigund led by SHO Qazigund raided the specified location at Khargund, Kulgam and arrested the absconding drug peddler namely Gulzar Ahmad Lone S/o Ghulam Hassan Lone R/o Khargund after evading his arrest for the last three years.
Stating that the accused the main kingpin of supplying drugs especially to Kulgam youth was shifted to Police Station Qazigund where he remains in custody, Police in it’s statement furthermore said that the accused was the main kingpin of supplying the drugs especially among the youth of Kulgam.
Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs and reassured people to act tough against the criminals as per law.
