Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has busted a narcotic drug module in Sopore and also recovered huge consignment of psychotropic substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that on 1st of March this year a police party of Police Station Bomai at a checkpoint established at Zindri Crossing arrested two drug peddlers and recovered huge consignment of SpasmoProxyvon from their possession. adding therein that it has accordingly registered case vide FIR No 07/2023 at Police Station Bomai.
Stating that accused were identified as Tanveer Ahmad Shah S/o Mushtaq Ahmad Shah R/o Seer Jagir Sopore and Javid Ahmad Shah S/o Gh Mohd Shah R/o Parry Mohalla Sopore, Police in it’s statement said that during investigation of the case, one more drug peddler namely Amir Sadeeq Para S/o Mohd Sadeeq Para R/o Chandoosa Baramulla was arrested alongwith 112 banned tablets on 10th of March.
Police in it’s statement furthermore said that during further investigation of the case, it came to fore that two persons namely Ms. Urooj D/o Mohd Muzaffar Bhat R/o Batpora Sopore and Mohd Ashraf Mir S/o Late Farooq Mir R/o Hathishah Sopore are supplying these contraband substances from outside states to PD Sopore and adjacent areas, Police in it’s statement said that as per the inputs received from the arrested drug peddlers, searches were started to bust the said module of drug mafia for supplying drugs, adding therein that besides, on 8th of April this year the duo kingpins Urooj and Mohd Ashraf Mir were arrested from the outskirts of Srinagar area and 1648 capsules were recovered from their possession.
Police in it’s statement further said that the family of Urooj including her brother, father & mother are involved in drug peddling and various cases have been registered against them, adding therein that however, her brother is presently lodged at Kot Bilwal Jail Jammu and her father at Delhi Central Jail. Her mother recently got bailed out after 1 ½ years.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement Police said that further investigation of the case is going on & more arrests/recoveries are expected.
