4 drug peddlers arrested in Bla, Contraband substances, forest herbs & cash also recovered : Police

Srinagar : Police on Sunday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers in Baramulla and also recovered contraband substances, illegally procured forest herbs & cash from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that on receiving specific inputs about the presence of narcotics in the house of Bashir Ahmad Ganie S/o Wali Mohammad Ganie R/o Trikanjan Boniyar, a Police party led by SHO PS Boniyar alongwith Executive Magistrate raided the said house and during searches recovered10 grams of Brown Sugar, illegally procured forest herbs and cash amount of 2,36,000 following which the said drug peddler was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that in a similar action a Police party of PP Wussan at a checkpoint established at Magraypora Wussan arrested a drug peddler identified as Zulkarnain Mir S/o Abdul Ahad Mir R/o Shumnag Kupwara and during searches recovered from him 15 grams of Brown Sugar , Police in it’s statement said that the said accused has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in it’s statement furthermore said that a Police party of PS Boniyar at a checkpoint established near Forest Office Boniyar, arrested a drug peddler identified as Ghulam Hassan Ganie S/o Ghulam Rasool Ganie R/o Trikanjan Boniyar and during searches recovered from his possession nine grams of Brown Sugar after which the accused was shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that in yet another similar action a police party of PS Uri at a checkpoint established at Dawaran Uri intercepted a suspicious person who on noticing police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully, Police in it’s statement said that the said accused has been identified as Zubair Ahmad Khan S/o Akhter Khan R/o Dawaran Uri and during searches 28 grams of Brown Sugar was recovered from his possession and he was later on arrested and shifted to police station.
Police in it’s statement also said that it has accordingly registered a cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and intiated an investigations into the case. In the concluding para of the above quoted statement urged people to contact nearest police establishment or dial 112 if they witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you. Police also appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and resolved to act tough against the criminals as per law.
