11 vehicles seized, 11 persons arrested for illegal extraction, transportation of minerals in G’bal ,Awantipora: Police

Srinagar: Police on Friday said that it has seized Eleven vehicles and also arrested Eleven persons in Ganderbal and Awantipora districts for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Ganderbal, a police party led by SHO Police Station Lar under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Ganderbal seized 4 vehicles (tippers) bearing registration numbers JK01T-9207, JK02AN-2587, JK01F-4401 and JK05B-0540 and also arrested four persons at Check Watalbagh for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from Nallah Sindh.
Stating that the accused persons have been identified as Manzoor Ahmad Ganie S/o Gh Rasool Ganie resident of Batwina, Ishfaq Ahmad Dar S/o Gh Nabi Dar R/o Safapora, Habibullah Laharwal S/o Gh Rasool R/o Kondbal and Jalal-u-din Bhat S/o Gh Mohd Bhat R/o Safapora, Police in it’s statement further said that all the accused have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody, adding therein that a case vide FIR No.19/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Lar and further investigation initiated.
Police in it’s statement furthermore said that in Awantipora also, a police party led by SHO Police Station Awantipora under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora Mumtaz Ali Bhatti arrested five persons and also seized five vehicles (5 tipper) involved in illegal extraction of sand at Aghanjipora and Padgampora, adding therein that a Police party of Police Post Reshipora have arrested two persons and also seized two vehicles (tractors) involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Dogripora area of Awantipora.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
