Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has seized 4 vehicles and also arrested 4 persons in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district for their alleged involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of mineral in the district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, Srinagar Police said that on the directions of SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar, a Special Police team headed by SHO Police Station Lar under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Ganderbal Gh Hassan seized four vehicles (tippers) bearing registration numbers JK15-2447, JK04B-3493, JK01H-6773 and JK16A-6930 and also arrested four persons identified as Javid Ahmad Rather R/o Khurhama, Farooq Ahmad Bhat R/o Safapora, Mohd Shafi Bhat R/o Yangoora and Gh Mohi-ud-din Parra R/o Sumbal for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from Nallah Sindh at Watalbagh Lar area of district Ganderbal.
Stating that it has accordingly registered a case vide FIR No.18/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Lar and further investigation has been taken up, Police in it’s above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
