DEO Pulwama reviews preparations for smooth conduct of Spl Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls-2023

No eligible elector of District to be left unregistered: DEO Pulwama

Pulwama : As the Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered a Special Summary Revision (SSR) of Electoral Rolls-2023 in Jammu and Kashmir, a review meeting of District Election Authority was held under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Baseer-ul-Haq Choudhary, who is also District Election Officer (DEO) here on Wednesday at Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Awantipora, Zaffar Ahmad Shawl, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Pulwama Aijaz Ahmad Shah, Assistant Commissioner Development Pulwama, Deputy District Election Officer, all Electoral Registration Officers(EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers(AEROs), Election Naib Tehsildar Pulwama, other concerned were present in the meeting.
At the outset, the DEO took a detailed review of the action plan for smooth and successful conduct of the Special Summary Revision (SSR) of Electoral Rolls-2023 to register all eligible electorates in all 04 Assembly segments of the Pulwama District.
It was given out that April 01, 2023 is the qualifying date for Special Summary Revision (SSR)–2023 which is commencing from April 05 with the publication of Draft Electoral Rolls and shall culminate on May 10, 2023 with the Publication of Final Electoral Rolls.
Giving activity wise details, the meeting was also informed that date of Publication of Integrated Draft Electoral Rolls of all Assembly Constituencies of Pulwama is 05-04-2023, while period of filing claims and objections for Additions, Deletions, Corrections and Transpositions is from 05-04-2023 to 20-04-2023.
It was also informed that 2 Special Camps for Electoral Registration will be organised at all Polling Stations of the District on April 9, 2023(Sunday) and April 15, 2023(Saturday), to have focused outreach to enrol all eligible electors and concerned Booth Level Officers (BLOs) shall remain available at respective booths with requisite Forms and Draft Electoral Rolls for the assistance of the Electors. It was also given that the Disposal of Claims and Objections shall be made by April 28, 2023(Friday). Similarly, checking of health parameters and obtaining Commission’s permission for final publication/Updating database and printing of supplements is May 04, 2023.
Speaking on the occasion, the DEO emphasized on conducting extensive SVEEP awareness programmes in all the 04 Assembly Constituencies of the District to maximise registration of all eligible electorates.
The DEO said that the prime objective of the Special Summary Revision (SSR–2023) is to keep the Electoral Roll updated and to provide an opportunity to get fresh enrolment of young eligible voters having attained the age of 18 or more as on qualifying date and to give opportunities for correction in particulars of electors and also to invite objections against any wrong inclusion in the Electoral Roll.
On the occasion, the DEO asked the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) to remain proactive to build awareness and activate all their resources for successful conduct of all SVEEP programmes across all assembly segments of Pulwama. He asked them to hold meetings with BLOs and achieve the National target of EP ratio.
DEO also instructed all the EROs/AEROs to create momentum regarding the exercise from the day first and supervise the process with focused attention to ensure 100% registration of all eligible and ensure no elector is left unregistered keeping in view the limited time period to conduct the exercise.
He directed the Officers to conduct revision strictly in accordance with the ECI guidelines as per schedule and complete the process within the given timeline. He exhorted upon the concerned officers to take extra care while making the addition of new voters, left out voters, deletion of absent/shifted/deceased electors and modification in the particulars of already registered voters to improve the health of Electoral Rolls and making it error free.
He also stressed on conducting analysis of Electoral Rolls to identify the areas and polling parts where most of the people are not registered in the Electoral Rolls. He further directed to hold special registration drives at the prominent public places including markets, bus yards and other crowded places in the District.
It was informed that as many as 397614 voters are already registered in all 4 assembly segments of the District with 197628 male and 199990 female electorates. He was further informed that a total of 469 polling stations have been designated in Pulwama.
Meanwhile, DEO Pulwama also held a meeting with regard to the Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls-2023 with the representatives of Political parties and briefed them about the exercise. He assured the political representatives that any matter connected to elections is always transparent and flaw free. He further asked the political representatives that any issue/ information related to elections can be submitted by them, their workers, agents or by the general public to any responsible person of District election authority for redressal in the shortest possible time.
