Block Diwas held across B’pora Distt , DC chairs Block Diwas of Aloosa & Arin

Bandipora : The District Administration Bandipora on Wednesday organised Block Diwas under Jan Abhiyan for the Aspirational Block Arin and block Aloosa at Conference Hall of Mini Secretariat Bandipora.
The programme was presided over by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmed and was attended by ADDC Bandipora, Ali Afsar Khan; DDC Member Arin, Gh Mohiudin; JD Planning, Imtiyaz Ahmad; Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, BDOs, CEO, Executive Engineers of PHE, R&B, District officers, PRIs and General public.
The locals and PRIs present on the occasion flagged-off various developmental issues pertaining to their area and also highlighted efforts of District Administration in carrying out works of various developmental projects in the area.
The demands raised by PRIs include Nayabat for Kudara and Surrender areas, accommodation for panchayats, opening of bank branches, receiving station, issues related to dispensaries, Anganwadi centers, and transportation for students and the general public.
The locals also appreciated the coordination between elected representatives and District Administration which resulted in development of the area on various fronts.
Apart from other issues, people stressed on bringing the Wullar lake on tourism map, upgradation of PMGSY roads, availability of pure drinking water and ration, availability of subject teachers in Schools, Solid Waste management in Panchayats, renovation of water bodies, macadamization of roads and filling of potholes besides highlighting the issue regarding growing menace of drug abuse among youth.
They also demanded a proper waste management plant in the block and raised the issue of lack of administrative block for offices in the block.’ The residents also demanded macdamization of Aloosa-Quil road, construction of a stadium.
The DC after patiently listening to the public issues passed on spot directions for redressal of various issues and also assured time bound redressal of left out issues.
Highlighting the motive of grassroots level democracy, DC urged people to participate in Gram Sabhas and be part of planning for their respective areas.
Dr Owais also called for strict action against people who are polluting water bodies in the village.
He asked the officers of the Rural Development to devise a proper waste management plan for the block and identify a particular spot where garbage can be collected and disposed scientifically.
DC Bandipora said a special focus is being laid on sanitation in Panchayat and Rs 2 lakh has been provided to every Halka to clean the drains and rivulets besides dumping the garbage at suitable place.
He said this activity will be followed by providing dustbins and later two persons in villages will be selected to collect wastes everyday to ensure a clean village.
Regarding tourism promotion, Dr Owais said a Rs 200 Cr project is under execution to beautify Wullar Lake and efforts are on to bring the lake on tourism map. He said several measures have already been taken to attract tourists including development of parks around Wullar, dredging and cleaning of the lake and construction of Boulevard.
Dr Owais also took feedback regarding water supply and implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission. He asked the concerned officers to expedite the work on pending projects so as to ensure that every household in the block gets a pure tapped drinking water.
The Deputy Commissioner said that Block Diwas initiative of LG administration provides an opportunity to the general public to be listened to at their door steps.
He also urged PRIs to prioritize the works related to education, health as per requirements of the area.
Dr Owais also highlighted the ill effects of drug menace in the society and urged people to fight the war against drug abuse together by cooperating with the law enforcing agencies.’
Similar Public interaction programmes were held across the district in every block that were attended by a number of locals who presented their grievances before the officers.
