2 drug peddlers arrested in Handwara, Contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Handwara and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Kralgund during patrolling at Badrah crossing on Baramulla-Handwara Highway intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot after noticing the police party but was apprehended tactfully.
Stating that during searches about 32 grams of Charas was recovered from the possession of the said accused identified as Umar Reyaz Bhat S/o Reyaz Ah Bhat R/o Kralgund , Police in it’s statement said that the above named accused was shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in it’s statement furthermore said that a police party of Police Station Vilgam at a checkpoint established at Manzgam intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot after noticing the police party but was apprehended tactfully following which 20 grams of Brown Sugar was recovered from the possession of the said accused identified as Nisar Ahmad Lone S/o Bashir Ahmed Lone R/o Chowkibal Kupwara and was later on shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law were also registered at respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated, Police in the concluding para of the above quoted statement appealed people to to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but also warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly under law.
