Widespread Light To Moderate Rain Likely In J&K : MeT

Srinagar|April,3: Meteorological department (MeT) forecast fairly widespread light to moderate rains over Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
Scattered to light rain and traces will occur during the next two days in Jammu and Kashmir, the MeT office said. Currently the weather is mostly cloudy in Kashmir valley. An independent weather observer Faizan Arif forecast that light to moderate rain showers are expected at most places in Jammu and Kashmir today.
The day temperatures are also expected to stay 3-9 degree Celsius below normal that can make people feel a bit chilly. The wet weather may continue tomorrow also, he added. The maximum and minimum temperature showed an improvement all across Jammu and Kashmir on Monday after bright sun appeared a day ago.
Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded a low of 7.9 degree Celsius on Monday against the 6.7 degree Celsius the previous night. It was, however, 1.5 degree Celsius above normal during this period of the season. The maximum temperature was also recorded 1.3 degree Celsius above normal against 17.7 degree Celsius in Srinagar.
Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national highway recorded a low of 5.8 degree Celsius against 3.5 degree Celsius a day ago and it was 0.7 degree Celsius above normal for the gateway of Kashmir.
Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded a low of 3.0 degree Celsius against 2.7 degree Celsius the previous night. It was 1.3 degree Celsius above normal at the tourist hot spot.
Kokernag experienced a low of 5.2 degree Celsius against 3.1 degree Celsius against and it was 0.1 degree Celsius above normal for the picnic spot of south Kashmir.
Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded a low of minus 0.5 degree Celsius against 0.6 degree Celsius a day ago. It was 1.3 degree Celsius above normal at the famous ski resort.
Kupwara had a low of 7.2 degree Celsius against 6.6 degree Celsius the previous night and it was 2.0 degree above normal for the frontier Kashmir district, the MeT office said.
