Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has seized four vehicles and also arrested four persons for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Awantipora.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party led by In-charge Police Post Reshipora under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora Mumtaz Ali Bhatti arrested four persons and seized four vehicles (2 Dumpers, 1 tipper and 1 Tractor) involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Kawani and Ghat Tokina areas of Awantipora, adding therein that the said accused have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Awantipora and investigation too has been initiated in to the matter, Police in the concluding para of the above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Police on this occasion also appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
