Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has seized 5 vehicles and also arrested 5 persons in Baramulla district for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party headed by Incharge PP Kungamdara and Incharge PP Mirgund under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohd Nawaz seized three vehicles (tractors) and arrested three persons at Kanisuth Colony Mirgund & Goom Ahmadpora Pattan for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
Stating that the accused drivers have been identified as Sajad Ahmad Bhat S/o Gh Ahmad Bhat R/o Khanpeth, Javid Ahmad Khan S/o Assadullah Khan R/o Singhpora and Rayees Ahmad Wani S/o Gh Hassan Wani R/o Goom Ahmadpora, Police in it’s statement further said that Police Station Kreeri under the supervision of SDPO Kreeri Khalid Ashraf also seized 2 vehicles (tractors) and arrested two persons identified as Muneer Ahmad Dar S/o Nazir Ahmad & Muneer Ahmad Ganie S/o Gh Mohiuddin Ganie, both residents of Shrakwara, at Shrakwara Kreeri for illegally extracting and transportation of minerals.
Police in it’s statement furthermore said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective Police Stations and investigation into the case has been also . In the concluding para of the above quoted statement Police warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt with as per law but appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
