BGSB University organizes Workshop on Environmental Conservation through Community Participation

Srinagar: Centre for Hospitality and Tourism & Environmental Sciences, CBS, BGSB University organized a Workshop on Environmental Conservation through Community Participation in collaboration with National Public Higher Secondary School, Rajouri.
According to a statement issued from Public Relations Office BGSBU here, Professor Akbar Masood, Vice Chancellor, BGSBU congratulated both Departments for taking the lead in organizing such activities involving communities to raise awareness about the significant environmental issues.
Prof. Akbar mentioned that the involvement of indigenous people and local communities is crucial for guaranteeing the effectiveness and success of environmental conservation strategies. Prof. Akbar said that there are numerous examples across the globe where local communities are playing a pivotal role in environmental protection.
Dr Danish Iqbal Raina, Deputy Director, Centre for Hospitality and Tourism, presented the opening remarks and deliberated upon India’s G20 Presidency as it seeks to play an important role by finding pragmatic global solutions for the wellbeing of all which true spirit of ‘one earth, one family, one future’. Dr Raina further stressed that community participation can play an important role in shaping and strengthening global architecture and governance on all major international issues related to the environment.
r Shreekar Pant, Coordinator, CBS delivered a keynote address on Nature-based solutions for a better tomorrow. Dr Pant described the significance of biodiversity in sustaining our planet and for joint action on adaptation, building resilience, and reducing risks and vulnerability to the impact of climate change.
Dr Mamta Bhat, Assistant Professor, spoke on the importance of mangrove conservation and its relevance in the present scenario.
Mr Kanav Badyal, Principal, National Public Higher Secondary School, Rajouri stressed the need for such kinds of programs in sensitizing young minds towards judicious use of biodiversity for the sustenance of the environment.
The event marked the presence of the faculty, scholars, and students in both Departments.
Mr. Dahyood , an MBA H&T student conducted the Proceeding of the program.
Mohammed Arsalan and Sanober both in the Students of Tourism department expressed their views during the program.
Azhar Mehmood and Fayzan Qamar students of M. Sc. Environmental Sciences delivered a presentation on the importance of community participation in environmental conservation and restoration.
Students and research scholars, faculty members from BGSBU, and students and staff of NPS Rajouri participated in the event.
