Police organises seminar on Drug De-addiction at Townhall G’bal

Srinagar: Police on Monday organised seminar/awareness programme against drug addiction at Townhall Ganderbal. The seminar was Chaired by SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar along with DySP Headquarters Ganderbal Gh Hassan. The Seminar was attended by Teachers, respectable Citizens, Media Fraternity, students of Degree College Ganderbal & various other schools of the district.
According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, speaking on the event, SSP Ganderbal said that the co-operation of the people is very pivotal to eradicate the severe menace of drugs from the society. He asked the students that Police is ready to help them in promoting sports & games. He further added drug addiction is a social crime & cooperation of the public is necessary and stressed upon the participants to share all information related to drugs & its Peddling in the area with concerned Police units so that Police can act swiftly. He also appealed the participants to extend their help in identifying drug addicts in their localities so that they can be counselled in better ways with the help of Drug De-addiction Centres.
DySP Hqrs Ganderbal also spoke about the sensitive topic of Drugs & its Addiction. He also highlighted the role of school management in identifying such cases and their role in treatment process thereof. Moreover, Psychiatrist Dr. Umar Jan also spoke about the psychological and social aspects of Drug Addiction. He further talked about the socio-economic, Physiological and Psychological causes and also preventive measures of Drug Addiction. The participants were encouraged to adopt positive approaches and to encourage others to do the same in eliminating this severe menace from the society. Moreover, various dignitaries, Social Activists, Artists and Students both Boys & Girls of different Schools of the District also threw light on this burning issue i,e “Drug Addiction & its negative causes”. At the end of the Seminar, SSP Ganderbal distributed Guest of Honour mementos among the Guests for their utmost contribution towards the welfare of the society. Trophies were also distributed amongst the students who spoke on the said occasion. At the end, the vote of thanks was presented by DySP Headquarters Ganderbal Gh Hassan.
