Srinagar: Police on Monday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohammad Nawaz, assisted by SHO PS Pattan at a checkpoint established at Zangam Crossing Pattan intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully by the alert police party.
Stating that during search, 90 grams of charas was recovered from the possession of the said accused identified as Rayees Ahmad Sheikh S/o Ali Mohd Sheikh R/o Khore Sherabad Pattan, Police in it’s statement further said that the culprit has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody,
Adding therein that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pattan and investigation has been also initiated.
Police in a concluding para of the above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
