Srinagar: Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK), Tasaduq Hussain Monday said that 40,358 students have been enrolled in government schools across Kashmir.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of an official event at Government Higher Secondary School Kothibag the Director School Education Kashmir said “During the enrollment drive the DSEK has enrolled 40,358 students in government schools across Kashmir valley.”
He said DSEK has directed all HODs to admit students in government schools irrespective of discharge certificates. “If a student is already enrolled he/she cannot be included twice. The students if tries to enrolled twice they will be rejected,” he said and added, “Only new enrollments will be registered”.
To a query he said wherever we get a credible information that any private school administration is forcing parents to pay admission fee, annual charges and to buy books and uniform from a particular shop, we take action against such elements. “Strict directions have been passed to all CEOs and ZEOs to take toughest action against those involved in such acts,” he said.
He added that DSEK has received complaints of poor text book materials and have been taken up with higher authorities for revisit.
