3 drug peddlers arrested in Bla & Kulgam, Contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested 3 drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarter Srinagar Police said that in Baramulla, a police party of PP Mirgund at a checkpoint established at Check Razak Khan Mirgund arrested a drug peddler identified as Shakoor Ahmad Parray S/o Abdul Rehman Parray R/o Rambirgarh Srinagar. Stating that during search, 90 grams of Charas was recovered from the possession of the said accused who was shifted to police station where he remains in custody, Police in it’s statement further said that a police party of PP Wussan at a checkpoint established at Goshbugh Pattan arrested a drug peddler identified as Mudasir Hussain Batoo S/o Ghulam Hassan Batoo and during searches recovered 75 grams of Charas from his possession following which the said accused was shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in it’s statement furthermore said that in Kulgam district also, a police party of PS Kulgam at a checkpoint established at Kaharwat Crossing intercepted a suspicious person who after noticing the police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. Stating that the said accused has been identified as Javeed Ahmad Rather S/o Abdul Hamid Rather R/o Sungus, Police in it’s statement said that during searches recovered 120 grams of Charas from the possession of the above named accused who has been arrested and shifted to PS Kulgam where he remains in custody.
Stating that in yet another similar action, a police party led by SHO PS Devsar during patrolling intercepted a suspicious person carrying a nylon bag who after noticing the police party left the bag and ran away from the spot by taking advantage of nearby dense orchards, Police in it’s statement further said that identity of the accused was later ascertained as Mohammad Ashraf Malik S/o Abdul Rahman Malik R/o Malwan, adding therein that during searches 5 Kgs of Ganja were recovered and efforts are on to effect his arrest. Police in it’s statement also said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been also initiated.
Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement reassured people of making efforts to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
