DC Owais urges youth to avail benefit of job oriented schemes

Bandipora : The District Administration Bandipora on Monday organised a mega Youth Interaction programme at Dak Bungalow, Sumbal.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr.Owais Ahmad was the chief guest on the occasion.
Large number of youth including students and members of Youth Club attended the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC stressed on Parental Care, Motivation, proper exposure to career opportunities for excelling in different fields for students. He said that District Administration is always looking forward for the guidance and successful future of the students
While interacting with the youngsters, Dr Owais said the career counseling sessions on regular basis act as boon for the youth who are in career deciding years and these programmes will continue to be organised for the betterment of the youth.
He said the District Administration has launched several programmes for the overall development of the next generation including better Education facilities, promotion of sports activities, guidance and career counseling and the hand holding for earning livelihood by facilitating to establish own income generation units. He said such initiatives will continue and urged the youth to avail benefit of these schemes to stand on their own feet.
While educating the youth, DC stated that drug abuse is a serious problem that affects not only individuals but also families and communities. He emphasised the importance of tackling the issue from multiple perspectives including deterrence, treatment and enforcement.
The DC reiterated that District Administration Bandipora is committed to creating a drug-free environment in the district and will continue to take all necessary steps to achieve this goal.
He said drug addiction is treatable and various measures have been taken for treatment and rehabilitation of addicts. He said the Administration recently started a Drug De-Addiction centre at Old Hospital complex Bandipora and urged the parents to keep watch on their kids so that they are not trapped in the wrong company.
The DC emphasised that the government is committed to their hand-holding under the Mission Youth programme. He said the programme is aimed to educate youth about self-employment opportunities available through different livelihood generating schemes rolled out by the government for aspiring youth.
Project officer District Industries Mehraj Wani spoke about government schemes and initiatives to provide job opportunities while Tehsildar Sumbal Zeeshaan Tahir discussed career opportunities, qualifying prestigious exams, civil service, PSC and UPSC level.
Dr. Nazir Ahmed BDO Hajin and Mir Dawar Habib BDO sumbal, young JKAS officers also spoke on the various career opportunities.
Dr Raleem from medical block sumbal spoke about career opportunities in the medical sector and health care.
Senior Superintendent of Police Bandipora Lakshy Sharma, DPO ICDS Bandipora Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, Tehsildar Sumbal, ACP Bandipora, SDPO Sumbal and Project Manager DIC Bandipora were present on the occasion.
