Srinagar: Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested a drug peddler and recovered poppy straw from his possession in Jammu and Kashmir’s sub district of Awantipora.
Police said during checking at Beighpora- Gulzarpora crossing , intercepted a vehicle and during search poppy straw(grinded) about 11 kgs concealed in a yellow colour nylon bag was recovered from the car.
The person who was carrying and transporting the consignment and driving the car has been arrested and identified as Arif Ahmad Dar a resident of Renzipora Awantipora. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized, police said.
A case under relevant sections of Narcotic Drug Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) stands registered at Police Station Awantipora, police added.
