Significant Achievements made by Ambala Divn from Aug’20 last year till now: GM Northern Railways

New Delhi: General Manager Northern Railways has said that significant achievements have been made in Engineering, Operational, Commercial, and Mechanical and in allied sectors of the Rail network across North India. According to him following significant achievements have been made from August 20 last year till date:-
1. Engineering
 The speed of following sections has been raised by UMB division:

o Mohri – Ambala – Sanehwal (105.09 Km) from 110 Kmph to 130 Kmph w.e.f. 17.05.2021.
o Sirhind – Nangal Dam (103.95 Km) from 100 Kmph to 110 Kmph w.e.f. 20.01.2022.
o Dhuri – Jakhal (Excl.) – Hissar (Excl.) (143.53 Km) from 100 kmph to 110 kmph w.e.f. 03.12.2022.
o Chandigarh – Morinda & Jn. Cabin – New Morinda (45.88 Km) from 100 kmph to 110 kmph w.e.f. 10.02.2023.
o New Morinda – Sanehwal section (Excl.) (51.11 Km) from 100 kmph to 110 kmph w.e.f. 20.01.2023.
o Nangal Dam – Una Himachal (16.45 Km) from 50 Kmph to 100 Kmph w.e.f. 21.01.2021.
o Una Himachal – Churaru Takrala (16.28 Km) from 75 Kmph to 100 Kmph w.e.f. 05.03.2021.
o Churaru Takrala – Amb Andaura (11.16 Km) from 80 Kmph to 100 Kmph w.e.f. 02.12.2021.
o Speed of CC+8+2T loaded trains have been increased from 60 to 75 Kmph on UMB – LDH (UP & DN) and UMB – CDG (DN) section w.e.f. 20.07.2021.
2. Operating
 Total Revenue loading during 21-22 is 17.24 MT, which is Best Ever. Previous best ever was 15.00 MT during 2020-2021.

3. Commercial
 Ticket checking earning of Rs.56.81 crore has been achieved during current year registering a significant increase of 36.23% over last year’s performance of Rs.41.70 crore during corresponding period.

4. Mechanical
 Utilization of LPG is 96% in FY 2022-23 which is highest among 05 divisions of NR.
 Safety Enhancement Measures
• 100% retro fitment of twin-pipe system during ROH of wagons at UMB and KJGY
• Sliding door Modification in 185 BCNHL Wagons.
• FIBA Modification completed in all PM coaches.
• Conducting Oscillation Trials and Controllability of Air Brake converted NG coaches at KSR Section.
5. Electrical (General)
 Roof Top Solar Power Plants
On-grid Roof top solar power plants are being provided in the field of green energy initiative and 2.7 MW rooftop solar plants have been commissioned over the division. There has been a generation of 1059843 (KWH), 1844360(KWH) units during FY 2021-22 and FY 2022-23 respectively; which has accordingly resulted in monetary saving of Rs.42 lacs and Rs. 75 lacs in respective financial year.
6. Electrical (Trd )
 Electrification of DUI- JKL and DUI- LHM which increases the electrification of UMB division to 86 percent.
7. Electric Loco Shed / Saharanpur
 Electric loco Shed/ Saharanpur has achieved Major accomplishment of commissioning the 100th locomotive on 25.11.2022. By commissioning the 100th locomotive during the November, 2022, Electric locomotive Shed, Saharanpur has attained the greatest and most awaited milestone in recent years. Saharanpur’s Electric Locomotive Shed opened its doors in 2014 with just 22 staff for homing 100 Electric locomotives and despite the acute shortage of staff, the shed has finally reached its limit. This shed is working with lowest yard stick count among the loco shed of pan Indian Railways.

8. Safety
 Strengthening of Preparedness in Safety Exigencies: During the period from Aug’20 to March’23, total 08 Mock drill & 03 full scale Mock drill exercises with NDRF were conducted to deal with any disaster over Ambala Division.
9. Security
 410 children were rescued during the period from Aug’20 to till date by RPF Ambala. This included rescue of runaway children and children who were victims of child trafficking. They were rehabilitated through child welfare committee and NGOs.
10. Accounts
 National Pension System (NPS)
A case of double payment was found by the NPS section in which the employee was working simultaneously in State Government Haryana and Northern Railway since 2020. Accounts Branch suggested to NSDL that only one PRAN should be issued for one PAN and the same has been accepted and implemented.
11. Medical
 NRDH/UMB has done outstanding work during covid pandemic. Total 163 covid 19 patients were treated in wards and ICU. 2004 RT-PCR and 1233 RAT tests were done. 9087 doses of covid vaccine were given at NRDH /UMB. HMIS implemented at Ambala division.
12. Personnel
 424 posts were surrendered during last 2 years & 06 months and 189 posts have been redistributed from Non Safety category to Safety category during this year. Railway Recruitment Cell New Delhi allotted 18000 candidates to Ambala Division for conducting physical efficiency test of candidates for recruitment in Level-1 in Jan’ 2023, which was organized from 19.01.2023 to 24.01.2023 in which 15178 candidates participated.
13. Signal & Telecommunication
 Replacement of Electro Mechanical Stations with Electronic Interlocking: Electronic Interlocking has been provided at 06 stations in year 2022-23 and 09 stations in year 2021-22 by replacing overaged Mechanical Interlocking stations.
14. Store
 Divisional Stores Branch Ambala has achieved sale of Rs 40.53Cr.against the target of Rs.32 Cr for 2021-2022 & Rs 38.04 Cr. against the target of Rs.31 Cr for 2022-2023 till date.
