Police organizes debate competitions in Tral & Awantipora

Srinagar : Police in Awantipora on Saturday organised debate competitions at Town Hall Awantipora and Government Degree College Tral under Civic Action Programme. The programmes were attended by students of different institutions, members of civil society and respectables of Tral and Awantipora areas respectively.
According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, in Awantipora the programme was attended by ADC Awantipora, SDPO Awantipora, Tehsildar Awantipora, ZEO Awantipora and other officers. Similarly, in Tral the programme was attended by SDPO Tral, Principal Govt. Degree College Tral, SHO Tral, In-charge Police Post Aripal and other civil/Police officers.
These programmes were organised by Police with the motive of generating awareness among the public about the menace of drugs, its side effects and the steps to be taken to eradicate this menace from the society. Officers, while speaking on the occasion said that the issue of drug abuse is a challenge and it is the duty of all stakeholders to join the hands in creating awareness about the illegal use of drugs and should adopt the measures to prevent this menace.
On this occasion, the officers also highlighted that public cooperation is necessary for eradication of the menace of drugs from the society. They also stressed upon the participants to share all such information related drug supply in the area so that action under law shall be taken. All the dignitaries also delivered speeches related to drug abuse and its side effects. Later Ist three position holders in Tral as well as in Awantipora were awarded with Cash Prizes, mementos and an appreciation certificates. Besides, participation certificates were also distributed among all participants in Tral as well as in Awantipora.
