Srinagar :, Police on Saturday said that it has booked a drug peddler under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining necessary sanctions from the authorities in Baramulla.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a drug smuggler namely Basharat Rajab Dar S/o Mohd Rajab Dar R/o Sheeri, District Baramulla has been booked under PIT-NDPS Act of 1988 after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority, adding therein that the booked drug peddler has been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jail, Jammu.
Stating that NDPS case has been registered against the said drug smuggler on charges of involvement in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Narwav belt and other areas of District Baramulla, Police in it’s statement further said that despite his involvement in many FIR’s he did not mend his activities and was again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police reassured the people that it has been is making all efforts to eradicate social evils to keep society free from drug abuse.
