Arrangements for ensuing holy month of Ramadan, Navroz & Navratri festivals reviewed at B’gam

ADDC stresses on availability of essential services, sale of quality food items

Budgam : The Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Budgam, Dr. Akramullah Tak on Friday convened a meeting of officers to review and finalize the arrangements for ensuing holy month of Ramadan, Navroz and Navratri festivals in the district.
In order to provide basic necessities to the general public during the holy month, the ADDC directed the department of PDD to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the month, particularly during Sehri and Iftari times.
The ADDC said that the PHE department should make proactive arrangements for hassle free supply of drinking water in all areas of the district. Similarly, he directed the department of FCS&CA to ensure adequate supply of essentials.
The ADDC said that in order to stop illegal profiteering, hoarding of essentials in the market by miscreants, special squads would be constituted. He said that joint market teams shall ensure sale of standard food items and implementation of official rates in letter and spirit across all markets of the district.
EOs of Municipalities were directed to conduct sanitation drives in double shifts to ensure proper cleanliness in all areas, besides instructions were given that all defunct street lights be restored on war footing in all areas.
During the meeting, the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer was directed to keep poultry birds available for consumers and the stocks available at identified locations.
Fisheries department was instructed to ensure availability of trout and carp fish for sale at the designated locations, on the eve of Navroz and Navratri at Sheikhpora Pandit Colony and at various Shia dominated locations.
The Health department was directed to ensure availability of medicine, staff and ambulances at all health centres.
The meeting, among others, was attended by ADC, Dr Nasir Ahmad, SDMs, concerned Xens, Executive officers of municipal committees and other concerned.
