Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals and have have seized six vehicles in Budgam.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that during intervening night of 16th and 17th March officers from Police Station Budgam during patrolling seized six vehicles (6 tippers and 01 JCB) bearing registration numbers JK01J-4308, JK04-5985, JK01M-8108, JK04A-5665 JK09-2954 and JK04-6832 for their involvement in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Labertal Budgam, adding therein that on noticing the police party the JCB driver and tipper drivers had fled from the spot.
Stating that it has accordingly registered a case vide FIR No. 62/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Budgam and investigation has been also taken up, Police in the concluding para of it’s statement warned that people found indulging in illegal extraction/mining activities shall be dealt with as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
