Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested 3 drug peddlers in Handwara, Sopore and Ganderbal police districts and also recovered contraband/Psychotropic substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Handwara, a police party of Police Station Qalamabad at a checkpoint established at Qalamabad market intercepted a suspicious person and on checking recovered about 95 grams of charas like substance from his possession, adding therein that the accused was dentified as Zahoor Ahmad Dar S/o Ab Khaliq R/o Waskura Handwara and subsequently arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in it’s statement also said that in a similar action in Sopore, a police party of Police Station Tarzoo during patrolling at Sofi-Akbar road, intercepted a scooty bearing registration number JK16-3533 and on checking recovered 15 grams of brown sugar like substance from Muzaffar Ahmad Marazi @Muzz Marazi S/o Muhammad Akbar R/o Sofi Hamam Sopore who was riding the scooty, adding therein that the accused was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that in yet another similar action in Ganderbal also a police party led by SHO PS Kheerbawani Insp. Mudasir Zaroo during patrolling at Bagoorampora Saloora intercepted a person identified as Showkat Ahmad Bhat S/o Gh Mohd Bhat R/o Saloora Ganderbal and during searches recovered 18 strips of Spasmo Proxyvon tablets from his possession after which he was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in it’s statement furthermore said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly under law.
