MeT Predicts Rain In Plains, Snow On Higher Reaches Of J&K

Srinagar|March, 17: Meteorological office on Friday predicted rain, thunderstorm at scattered places in plains while snowfall over higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir during next 24 hours.
 MeT Office said that Intermittent rain, thunderstorm accompanied by gusty winds at scattered places whereas snowfall is likely over higher reaches from March 18 to March 20, adding therein that there is no forecast of any heavy rain or snow during the period.
It has also advised the farmers to postpone spraying of orchards during this period.
Currently the weather is cloudy at most places of Kashmir valley. Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded a low of 6.6 degree Celsius against 5.5 degree Celsius the previous night and it was 1.9 degree Celsius above normal during this period of the season.
Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national had a low of 4.5 degree Celsius against 4.2 degree Celsius the previous night. It was 0.9 degree above normal for the gateway of Kashmir.
Tourist hot spot of Pahalgam recorded a low of 1.6 degree Celsius on Friday against 0.8 degree Celsius a day ago and it was 1.5 degree above normal for the valley of shepherds in south Kashmir.
Kokernag recorded a low of 4.6 degree Celsius, 1.1 degree above normal of 3.5 degree Celsius for the famous picnic spot of south Kashmir.
Gulmarg in north Kashmir recorded a low of 0.5 degree Celsius against 1.5 degree Celsius the previous night and it was 2.8 degree Celsius above normal for the famous ski resort.
Kupwara recorded a low of 4.6 degree Celsius against 3.2 degree Celsius the previous night. It was 1.2 degree Celsius above normal for the frontier Kashmir district, MeT office said
