7 drug peddlers arrested, Contraband substances also recovered

Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that in a series of actions on Thursday 7 drug peddlers were arrested by it along with security forces in Kulgam, Baramulla & Awantipora police districts and besides recovering contraband substances from their possession narcotics worth crores were also recovered in a village near LoC in Uri.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Baramulla district police along Army Dagger Division while conducting routine area domination patrols in general area of village Churanda Uri near LoC, found a suspicious bag following which searches of the surrounding area was also conducted and Narco Dog of BSF was called in. During search operation, about 1 Kg of narcotics worth crores concealed in suspicious bag was recovered. Police in it’s statement further said that during preliminarily investigation the hatching of a conspiracy by Pakistan based handlers to push drugs inside J&K to spread drug addiction among the youth of JK came to the fore .
Stating that in another similar action, a police party of PS Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Khanpora intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK05L-2188 with two persons on board identified as Irfan Rasool Lone S/o Gh Rasool Lone R/o Kralpora Fatehgarh & Amir Ahmad Wani S/o Ab Gani Wani R/o Zandfaran Sheeri, Police in it’s statement said that during search, 20 grams of Brown Sugar was recovered from the possession of the above named accused who were later arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.
Disclosing that moreover in Uri, a police party of PS Uri following a specific information regarding hoarding of narcotics at a house belonging to Nokhaze Khan Awan S/o Kalu Khan Awan R/o Paranpeelan Uri, raided the specific location along with concerned Magistrate, Police in it’s statement further said that during searches 1.260 Kgs of Charas was recovered from the said location and owner of the house was arrested.
Stating that meanwhile, a police party of PS Sheeri at a checkpoint established at Gantamulla Baramulla arrested a drug peddler identified as Mohd Amir Lone S/o Naseer Ahmad Lone R/o Baila Boniyar and during searches 60 grams of Charas was recovered from his possession, Police in it’s statement further said that In Kulgam also a police party of Police Post Mirbazar at a checkpoint established at Al-stop on NHW-44 arrested a drug peddler identified as Mohammad Ashraf Bhat S/o Ghulam Rasool Bhat R/o Rahpora, Khudwani and during searches recovered 40 bottles of codeine phosphate from his possession.
Police in it’s statement furthermore said that in another similar action, a police party of Police Station Kund during patrolling at Oreil Kund arrested a notorious drug peddler identified as Bilal Ahmad Bhat S/o Mohammad Abdullah Bhat R/o Checki Badwani, Qazigund and during search, 218 grams of charas was recovered from his possession.
Stating that in yet another similar action a police party of Police Station Awantipora at a checkpoint established at Padgampora Bridge intercepted a vehicle (alto) bearing registration number JK13H-3155 driven by Amir Jabar Lone S/o Late Mohd Jabar Lone R/o Buhoo Awantipora and during searches 5 grams of Heroin were recovered from his possession following which he was arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized, Police in it’s statement said that all the drug peddlers have been shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody, Stating therein further cases under relevant sections of law were also registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly under law.
