Training Prog on ‘Revival of Dying Craft’: Paper Machie Designing held at IUST

Awantipora: Three-day training program on Revival of the Dying Craft: Paper Machie Designing coordinated by the Department of Management Studies, IUST concludes here on Wednesday. The Programme was attended by about 100 participants from different educational institutions in the valley.
According to a statement issued from Public Relations Office IUST here, multiple sessions were held focusing on different aspects including Incredible history of Paper Machie in Kashmir, Origin of Paper Machie, Introduction to basic traditional designs, Innovations in Paper Machie, Making of Paper Machie Pulp, Supply Chain and Marketing of Paper Machie. Besides, heads-on training on pulp-making and Paper Machie design makings were also held.
Professor Vasanthi Rajendran, Head Centre for Training, Orientation and Capacity Building, RGNIYD, chief Guest on the inaugural function of the event, applauded the department for organizing such programmes and sensitizing the students on the need for efforts towards revival of traditional crafts. Dr Asif Iqbal Fazili, Dean, School of Business Studies IUST said that the department is focused on research and training for the revival of the dying arts and crafts of Kashmir.
