Srinagar Admin organises awareness Progs under ‘Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan through Nukad Nataks/Cultural progs

Says “Distt Admin committed to provide every support for rehabilitation of Victims of Drug abuse under Mission Waapsi”
Srinagar : In order to reach out to the youth and spread awareness about ill effects of substance abuse, the District Social Welfare Office, Srinagar on Wednesday organised series of activiti es under ‘Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan’ at Amar Singh College, Abdul Ahad Azad Memorial College Bemina and Govt College for Women M.A Road to highlight the issues and sensitise the masses particularly youngsters against this menace.
The programmes were held on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad with an aim to address the problem of drug abuse especially among youth and deliver the message to common masses about the hazards of drug abuse.
Speaking on the occasion, the speakers appealed to the participants to be a part of ‘Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan’ campaign and play a key role in eradication of drug abuse from society.
They also urged the participants to work religiously in eradication of this evil from society.
Principals of Amar Singh College, Gogjibagh, Abdul Ahad Azad Memorial College Bemina and Govt College for Women M.A Road District Mission Coordinator DHEW Mission Shakti, Gender Specialists DHEW and other Officials from One Stop Centre for Women were present on the occasion.
Speaking about the events, the Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar said that the objective of organizing the programme was to aware society in general and youth in particular about destructive role of drugs and encourage them to come forward with a positive mind for younger generations and also eradicate habits of drugs with the slogan-SAY NO TO DRUGS under ‘Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan’.
The DC said District Administration has adopted a zero tolerance policy against the drug abuse and its peddling and focused attention is being given on higher educational Institutions and schools, besides its hotspots. He said measures for providing counselling and treatment facilities in hospitals and rehabilitation centres are in place besides reaching out to the community and identifying the dependent population.
The DC said the District Administration is committed to provide all possible support to the victims and encourage the people to stay away from the drugs and lead a healthy and drug free Srinagar.
