Forest Deptt celebrates ‘Chinar Day’ at College for Women, MA Road Srinagar

Srinagar :On the eve of Chinar Day, celebrated every year on 15th of March, the J&K Forest Department on Wednesday organised an event at College for Women, MA Road Srinagar, here.
On the occasion, Zubair Ahmad Shah, Conservator of Forests, Srinagar Circle; Divisional Forest Officer, Urban Forestry Division, Srinagar, Vice Principal of the College, HOD Botany and Nazir Be Nazir (Chairman NGO) and students planted Chinar saplings within the campus.
The Conservator of Forests advised the students to identify themselves with the Chinars for their care and upkeep.
It is important to mention that Chinar – Oriental Plane is the State tree of Jammu & Kashmir and the Women’s College campus is home to some majestic Chinars which need to be conserved.
The Forest Department has been assigned the responsibility to augment the efforts of the Floriculture Department, throughout the J&K, in this regard, by the Government.
