Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested 3 drug peddlers in Baramulla and Kulgam districts and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Baramulla district a police party of Police Station Tangmarg under the supervision of SDPO Tnagmarg Javaid Ahmad during naka checking at Ferozpora crossing Tangmarg arrested two drug peddlers identified as Arif Ahmad Khan S/o Ghulam Nabi Khan R/o Hoom Tangmarg and Ishfaq Ahmad Mir S/o Abdul Hameed Mir R/o Hariwatnoo Tangmarg and recovered 52 grams of Charas like substance from their possession. “The accused has later been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody”, reads the Police statement.
Stating that in a similar action in Kulgam district also, a police party led by Incharge Police Post Frisal during naka checking near Kharpora Playground intercepted a suspicious person and during searches recovered 1.1Kg of Charas like substance from his possession, Police in it’s statement further said that thev accused has been identified as Raqeeb Ahmad Ganie @Rahi S/o Abdul Salam Ganie R/o Hassanpora Taveela, Bijbehara who was later arrested and sifted to police station where he remains in custody. Police in it’s statement furthermore said that it has accordingly registered a case under relevant sections of law in respective police stations and investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of the it’s above quoted statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood but warned that peeople found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
