New Delhi: Both houses of Parliament were adjourned for the second consecutive day on Tuesday, after heated arguments between the BJP and Congress party members took place over Rahul Gandhi’s remarks in the United Kingdom and over the Adami issue.

The BJP government is seeking Rahul Gandhi’s apology to the nation over his comments, while the Opposition parties are raising the issue of Adami Group and seeking the investigation under the Joint Parliamentary Committee.

The Congress MPs displayed placards showing some old remarks made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They stormed the well of the House with placards.

Amid chaos, the lower House was adjourned for the day to meet on Wednesday. This is the second consecutive day when no business could be transacted in Lok Sabha, which had reconvened on Monday (March 13) after a month-long break.

Meanwhile Rajya Sabha too was adjourned for the day.

Earlier, Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday again alleged that Gandhi had insulted the Indian Parliament on foreign soil and urged the leaders of opposition parties to condemn these remarks. “I appeal to the leaders of all opposition parties to condemn the remarks made by a senior member of the Parliament, insulting the Indian parliament, on foreign soil,” he said.

After the Rajya Sabha was adjourned, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge alleged that there was “no rule of law and democracy” in the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Meanwhile the Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar rejected notices of opposition parties to discuss the “govt’s failure” to constitute a JPC to investigate the charges of fraud by Adani Group.

Chairman rejected the notice under the Rule 267 given by Congress members Pramod Tiwari, KC Venugopal, Kumar Ketkar, Neeraj Danghi, Akhilesh Prasad Singh, Syed Naseer Hussain and Amee Yajnik to discuss to constitute a Joint Parliamentary Committee to investigate over the alleged financial mismanagement by Adani Group companies.

Dhankhar also rejected notices by the BRS’ K Kesava Rao and the AAP’s Sanjay Singh to discuss the Hindenburg report on Adani Enterprises.

The second leg of the Budget session of Parliament began on Monday following a month-long recess and is likely to conclude on April 6.
