Budgam : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, S F Hamid on Saturday said that Budgam district is among top performers in J&K in implementing Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).
The DC said this, while speaking on the occasion of felicitation of women achievers under JJM in the district. He said that the main aim of the JJM is to provide every household with potable tap water connections by June – 2023.
He said work on all ongoing JJM projects are being reviewed on a daily basis to ensure completion before the timeline.
Stressing on regular testing and proper cleanliness of water sources, the DC appreciated PRIs and Pani Samitis for their active role in sensitization of the general public about judicious use of water and safeguarding resources.
On the occasion, the DC also felicitated women achievers viz. Chairperson Pani Samitis, Pani Samiti Members and FTKs users who are working in implementation of support activities under JJM in District Budgam for their exemplary work in the district.
Earlier, the DC also kick started a motor rally from Budgam which shall visit various villages for certification regarding 100% coverage under Har Ghar Jal Utsav.
He said that in District Budgam substantial villages have achieved 100% Functional household tap connection coverage and in order to promote community ownership of piped water supply schemes, Jal Jeevan Mission envisages Har Ghar Jal Certification through Gram Sabhas for these villages to seek confirmation from the people about the coverage, service level and functionality of Tap connections in order to boost the Har Ghar Nal Certification under “Har Ghar Jal Ustav” campaign.
Among others, Superintendent Engineer Hydraulic Circle Budgam, Executive Engineer PHE Division Budgam, Executive Engineer PHE Division Chadoora, District Project Management Unit Budgam were also present on the occasion.
