Vet Fest-2k23 inaugurated at SKUAST-(J)

Jammu : The Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, SKUAST-Jammu, organised a three-day annual college fest called ‘Vet Fest-2k23.’ The event was inaugurated by Managing Director, JK Agro Industries Development Corporation, Dr Arun Kumar Manhas and SP HQ Jammu, Dr Ramnish Gupta, along with other esteemed statutory officers of the university. The fest was organised under the guidance of Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu.
The inauguration started with a cultural procession, after which the dignitaries released pigeons in the sports stadium. Dignitaries unveiled the Mascot ‘Dr Kenzo’ of Vet Fest 2K23 (LITRUMPUS 2023), specially designed VetFest 2K23 T-shirt and declared the VetFest 2K23 open by lighting the ‘Sports Torch’ and also inspected the fine arts and other events.
Dr Manhas emphasised the role of such events in rejuvenating the mind and spirits of students and faculty. Dr Ramnish Gupta expressed his appreciation for showcasing the amazing talent of the students and their commitment towards preserving rich cultural heritage.
Prof. MS Bhadwal, Patron of the Organising Committee and Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, said that Vet Fest-2k23 is the fifth in the series of VetFests that started in 2016. The event contributes to instilling values such as leadership and team-building among students. The festival includes literary events, cultural events and various sports events. The main attraction of the Vet Fest is the CAT SHOW, the first of its kind in J&K, scheduled on 12th March 2023.
Also present on the occasion were Dr SK Gupta, Registrar, SKUAST-Jammu; Dr BC Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Dr SEH Rizvi, Dean, Faculty of Basic Sciences; Dr JS Soodan, Dean, faculty of Dairy Technology; Dr Jyoti Kachroo, Director (Planning & Monitoring); Dr Rajesh Katoch, Dean Students Welfare; Veterinary faculty and non-teaching staff among others.
Under-graduate and post-graduate veterinary students of F.V.Sc & AH will compete in various sports, cultural, literary and fine arts events from March 10 to 12, 2023 as a part of the fest.
