Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Budgam district and also recovered contraband substances from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, a police party of Police Station Beerwah at a checkpoint established at Lalpora crossing intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully by the alert police party. Stating that during searches 100grams of Charas like substance in the shape of rods wrapped in Maize Cob leaves (4 Nos’), 3 strips of Anxit-0.5 and 45 tablets of Alprazolam tablets were recovered from his possession, Police in it’s statement said that the accused has been identified as Tauseef Ahmad Wani S/o Ghulam Mohammad Wani R/o Lalpora Beerwah, Stating therein further that the accused has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 32/2023 was also registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Beerwah and investigation has been initiated, Police in the concluding para of the above quoted statement reassured the people that efforts are on to curb the drug menace from the society. Police on this occasion also appealed people public to cooperate with police in the battle against the drug menace and share any information regarding anti-social activity in their neighbourhood with nearby police unit so that timely action against the culprits will be taken.
