Dir Tourism flags off cycle rally at Badamwari

Visitors throng famous Almond Park “Badamwari” on the foot hills of Kohi-e-Maran in down town Srinagar on the first day of its officially reopening to cherish the taste of spring season in Kashmir. UNI

Srinagar : To mark the beginning of spring season in Kashmir, Directorate of Tourism Kashmir organised a cycling expedition from Badamwari, Srinagar.
Cyclists from different walks of life participated in the event.
The cycle expedition was flagged off by Director, Tourism, Kashmir, Fazlul Haseeb.
The rally passed through Rainawari, Dalgate, Boulevard, Hazratbal, Nigeen to reach back Badamwari.
Later, the Director Tourism Kashmir distributed prizes among the participants.
Addressing the gathering, the Director Tourism said the event was held to mark the beginning of spring season and Badamwari being an iconic heritage site was chosen for this.
The Director Tourism said the Department has positioned adventure tourism particularly cycling as a priority tourism product and due to these efforts it stands fairly popularized among the youth.
Haseeb said the Tourism Department has planned many events and festivals for the year to engage and enrich the experience of tourists and locals in the Kashmir valley.
Senior officers of the Tourism Department, members of civil society and many adventure lovers were present on the occasion.
