6 accused arrested for illegal extraction & transportation of minerals in Bla, 6 vehicles also seized : Police

Srinagar : Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested 6 persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals and also seized 6 vehicles from their possession in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of PP Delina under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla Peerzada Aijaz Ahmad seized 5 tractors and arrested 5 persons identified as Mashooq Ahmad Sofi S/o Ali Mohd Sofi, Bilal Ahmad S/o of Gh Nabi Sofi, Umar Farooq Sofi R/o Farooq Ahmad Sofi, Jan Mohd Sofi S/o Ab Rashid Sofi & Aijaz Ahmad Sofi S/o Mohd Maqbool Sofi, all residents of Juhama at Juhama Baramulla for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
Stating that in another similar action a police party of PP Kungamdara under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohd Nawaz seized 1 tractor and arrested a driver identified as Sajad Ahmad S/o Ali Mohd Bhat R/o Gund-Ibrahim Pattan at Khore Sherabad for his involvement in extraction and transportation of minerals, Police in it’s statement said that cases have been registered under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and investigation has also been initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt with as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
