3-Days Workshop on Drug Demand Reduction under NMBA concludes iat B’pora

Bandipora: The three days workshop cum training programme about Early Detection of Drug Abuse and Post Detection Management and to educate the masses regarding the ill effects of drug abuse and its mitigation concluded on Friday at District De-Addiction Centre (DDAC) Bandipora.
The programme was organized by DDAC as part of Action Plan-2023 for Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan in collaboration with District Administration Bandipora and under the banner of District Social Welfare Office Bandipora.
The programme was organised on the directions of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmed under the guidance of District Social Welfare Officer, Ubaid-Ul-Khazir.
The training was attended by teachers, health workers, police personnel, ICDS Workers, ASHA Workers, DDAC Staff members, Social Welfare officials, JKSWM members, youth, volunteers and other frontline workers of the district.
The main objective of the program was to sensitize and aware the common masses about the ill effects of drugs to eradicate it from society. Many training sessions and presentations on the occasion threw light on the topic that drug abuse is evil and the need of the hour is to give more awareness so that people will remain away from the deadly menace.
Vice Chairperson, DDC Bandipora, Kounsar Shafeeq was the chief guest. In her speech, she talked about strategies and the need to address this issue which has become an epidemic to the society and is more dangerous than COVID19.
Resource Persons from ATF, District Hospital Bandipora gave detailed information to the audience about the early detection of drug abuse and post detection management of drug de-addiction.
Dr. Umair Quyoom, Medical Officer, ATF, Bandipora, resource person from ATF, delivered detailed information to the vulnerability of drug menace, its medical aspects, treatment and rehabilitation processes at ATF and DDAC.
Another resource person, Junaid Gayyas, Counselor, ATF Bandipora delivered a brief summary and history of the drug abuse, its ill effects, causes and remedial measures available with the government to address this menace.
Station House Officer, Bandipora highlighted the role of police and assured all possible support from police in this regard.
Rehana, Manager DDAC informed the audience about roles and various facilities being provided at District De-Addiction Centre, Bandipora.
Others, who threw light on the subject included teachers, representatives from Social Welfare, health department, ICDS department, education department, civil society and youth volunteers.
