SAKHI- OSC B’pora celebrates ‘Int’l Womens Day’’

Bandipora: SAKHI – One Stop Centre, Bandipora in collaboration with District Administration Bandipora on Wednesday organised a daylong function to celebrate International Women Day to sensitize masses regarding the importance of women and women rights at Conference Hall, District De-Addiction Centre (DDAC) Bandipora.
The programme was organised by Mission Shakti, SAKHI – One Stop Centre, Bandipora & District Hub for Empowerment of Women Bandipora and was attended by Officials from various departments including Education, Mission Shakti, Mission Vatsalya, POSHAN, DHEW, OSC, CWC, CCI, ICDS etc, Members of Women’s Committee, Members of JKSWM, BBBP, Girl students from various educational institutions of the district, female employees and local women of the district.
On the occasion, Malik Tabinda, Protection Officer, DCPU, Bandipora said that the female folk must realise their importance and role in society. She said the women who have achieved success in various fields of life must act as ambassadors to guide other women to utilise their potential in a proper way.
She presented detailed information about various rights of women and laws enacted by the government.
Sumaya Muzaffar, Gender Specialist, DHEW Bandipora while highlighting the importance of International Women’s Day said girls and women are important stakeholders of society and it is our collective responsibility to take care of girl child for the empowerment of women.
Sumaya informed the audience about various women centric schemes being implemented by the government.
Jawahar Ahmad, Supervisor, DDAC Bandipora highlighted the objectives of the programme and said we must encourage girls and women for socio-economic and political development of society.
Afshana Hassan, Psycho-Social Counselor, One Stop Centre, Bandipora; Ishrat Ayoub, Centre Administrator, OSC Bandipora; Jameela Akhter, Case Worker OSC and many other speakers enumerated different topics related to International Women’s Day.
Later, baby kits were distributed among various lactating women of the district.
