Police observes Thana Diwas in G’bal , B’gam

Budgam/Ganderbal : Police on Thursday organized ‘Thana Diwas’ in Ganderbal & Budgam districts respectively.
According to a statement issued form Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, in Ganderbal, Thana Diwas events were held at PS Ganderbal, PS Kheerbawani, PS Lar, PS Safapora, PS Kangan and PS Gund and were chaired by SDPO Kangan Muzaffar Jan and DySP Headquarters Gh Hassan Ganderbal under the directions of SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar. These meetings were attended by DDCs, BDCs, Sarpanchs, Panchs and General Public. Besides all SHOs of concerned Police Station’s, other officers and officials were also present.
Similarly in Budgam also, Thana Diwas events were held at Police Station Magam, Police Station Charar-e-Shareef & Police Station Budgam and were chaired by concerned officers in their respective jurisdictional areas. These meetings were attended by respectable citizens of Magam town, Charar-i-Sharief & Budgam Town. In these events, participants highlighted various issues of public importance and they were assured that their genuine grievances pertaining to Police will be resolved on priority and that of civil administration will be taken up with the concerned departments for their early redressal.
Speaking on these occasions, the chairing officers stated that policing at grassroot level in the district would be revamped to enhance proficiencies of the cops and to develop confidence among the people. Furthermore, the chairing officers said that Thana Diwas is an initiative started by the Government of J&K to bridge the gap between Police and Public and also to hear and redress the grievances of common masses and further added that Community policing is mandatory to boost public confidence which would help in fighting against crime and social evils. Moreover, the participants on this occasion were also stressed to co-operate with Police in curbing the drug menace and in identifying anti-national and anti-social elements who always try to disrupt the peaceful environment.
