Mega Block Diwas in Awantipora Tehsil of Pulwama

Block Diwas strengthening the foundation of local governance: DC Pulwama

Pulwama : The District Administration Pulwama on Wednesday organized Mega Block Diwas in Awantipora Tehsil of the District to take appraisal of the public issues, grievances and demands.
The programme witnessed overwhelming response from PRIs and general public especially from youth who participated to highlight issues and grievances confronting their areas for early redressal.
To take first hand appraisal of public grievances and demands, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Baseer-Ul-Haq Choudhary remained available at Awantipora where he listened to grievances and issues of people for redressal.
He was accompanied by SSP Awantipora, Aijaz Zargar; ADC Awantipora, Zaffar Ahmad Shawl; Ex-Engineers of R&B, PHE and PDD, PRIs, BMO Pulwama, concerned BDO, and all other District Officers.
Thousands of people hailing from the Block attended the programme and put forth their issues relating to problems they are facing.
Locals and people from adjoining areas, led by Town Welfare Committee Awantipora, put forth their issues and demands regarding basic amenities and different services like construction of interior roads in the town, release of outstanding land compensation payments to landholders, SRTC bus service from Awantipora to Srinagar, providing of forest sale depot in the area, drinking water issues in the area and relocation of filtration Pump, upgradation of High School to Higher secondary school, upgradation in health care facilities etc.
The DC gave patient hearing to the grievances raised and assured quality disposal of genuine issues in a time bound manner. He also gave on spot directions for redressal of many issues of urgent nature as per the competence of concerned departments and issues required to be redressed at higher level, were also noted.
The DC assured the delegations that all the genuine demands shall be resolved in the shortest possible time. He sought an action taken report on all the previous issues projected by the local people and also passed directions for early redressal of their grievances.
On the occasion, the DC said that such programmes are proving to make the Planning processes/ development processes all over the District youth centric.
The DC further added that education is the only way that can contribute to the overall and inclusive development of the Awantipora town and the society. He also stressed to make the area drug free to make the future of the youth safe and secure.
The DC directed the concerned Officers to exhort for completion of ongoing projects, Roads, & bridges. He also urged them to complete the works within the shortest possible time.
